How do I register my child for Feltonfleet?

The main intake ages for Feltonfleet are 3+ (Nursery), 7+ (Year 3) and 11+ (Year 7), although we do consider applications at other ages depending on the availability of spaces.  We are looking for potential rather than prior attainment and welcome pupils whatever their background and education.  We seek bright, engaged pupils with an enthusiasm for learning – children who will enjoy contributing to all areas of Feltonfleet life.

To register your child, kindly complete the Digital Registration Form and submit it together with the registration fee of £100 per child.  Payment should be made by BACS transfer.  Completion of this form does not constitute the offer of a place, but does place your child on our waiting lists.

Registration Form

What is the process for our child to join the Pre-Prep?

Early registration is advised for a child joining Nursery.  We have two form entry into Nursery, with 30 places available each year. These places are allocated on a ‘first come, first served’ basis, guided by the date of registration, with priority being given to siblings.

Registration is valid at any point and if we are not able to offer you a place at your chosen year group the registration will roll-over to the next possible entry point.

What is the process for our child to join the Prep School?

Many of our children join us at 7+, when they enter the Lower School. Once you have registered your child, we will invite him/her to come along to our Assessment and Discovery Morning in November.

We want to find out as much about your child as we can, and whilst there is inevitably some emphasis on testing, we like the occasion (held on a Saturday morning) to be as relaxed and informal as possible. In that way we believe that your child is much more likely to be at ease, to show us what they can do and what their interests are. Children wear home clothes and are invited to bring a favourite toy/item to talk about.

The morning is organised by our Head of Lower School and the tests are in Literacy and Numeracy, and follow very closely the sort of assessments common to the National Curriculum at the relevant Key Stage. Lower School staff will be on hand to guide the children, respond to their questions, and observe them at work. We also place a high emphasis on watching the children play creatively, and their social interactions. Each child is briefly interviewed by the Headmistress or Head of Lower School.

Are places available higher up the school?

Most boys and girls leave Feltonfleet at 13+ but occasionally places become available in the Middle School (9-11 years) and the Upper School (11-13). Provided your child is registered and we have established that there is a place, we will invite you to bring your child along for a Taster Day. They will sit papers in Maths, English and non-verbal reasoning as well as spending time with their year group cohort in a normal lesson environment. They will have an informal interview with the Headmistress or Head of Upper School.

You will be asked to provide copies of their most recent school report and a transfer report will be requested from your child’s present school. We advise you to discuss your plan with your current Head before attending the Taster Day. We aim to advise you of the outcome by letter, within a week.
