Growth Mindset
In both staff and students at Feltonfleet, we aim to cultivate a growth mindset in our approach to learning.
We understand that every individual may have a different starting point, but that we all have the capacity to improve our skills, behaviours and intelligence. Through hard work, resilience and good quality feedback, pupils at Feltonfleet will continue to grow and develop into successful learners who are excited by any challenges that may lie ahead.
Growth Mindset beliefs | Fixed Mindset beliefs |
---|---|
You can develop and grow your abilities and intelligence |
Intelligence and ability are fixed. They don't change much over time |
You are not born successful, you have to work hard to be successful | You are either born with it (ability/talent/intelligence) or not |
A challenge is exciting, not threatening | Challenges are too hard |
It is OK to make a mistake | Mistakes mean "failure" |
