SchoolsGuide2023 Top50[2]1080Schools Guide 2023 front coverFor the second year in succession, we are extremely proud to have been selected in The Cricketer Schools Guide 2023 as one of the top 50 prep and junior schools for cricket in the country.

Following a huge number of entries submitted for The Guide, the schools were judged against an extensive set of criteria, which included a compelling commitment to cricket in the curriculum, facilities, fixture programmes and coaching.

The Cricketer was impressed with our grassroots cricket programme, which begins with our Year 1 pupils in the Pre-Prep, teaching them the fundamentals of cricket and keeping it fun, ensuring they have built a good foundation of cricketing skills by the time they reach Year 5.

2022 10 14 ECC 2022 week 5 DSC 7893 diana orosFeltonfleet cricket is definitely in good hands, as news of our achievement comes hot on the heels of a triumphant 2022 season, both at County and International level, for Feltonfleet’s Director of Cricket.

As part of his Berkshire CCC side, Andrew Rishton won both the One-Day Trophy and the 3-day Championship and in October he was selected again to represent the England XI in the Dream 11 European Championships.  Following last year’s Championship victory, the team finished second this year and Mr Rishton was awarded “Player of the Tournament” for his performance in the competition.

IMG 4243 (1)Cricket isn’t just a summer sport at Feltonfleet, Mr Rishton explains, “This year we continued to add value to our pupils from the first week of the academic year with our winter programme, with four hours of clubs a week, from Year 3 beginners to Year 8 County age-group players.  In total we will see close to 100 boys and girls at our sessions each week. There is an opportunity for anyone who would like to have a go, or to improve, to do so. As well as our open sessions, we get to see our more-able boys and girls and help them continue to improve and push their limits in the sport.”

Hugo Bowling (1)Commenting on our selection for The Cricketer Schools Guide 2023, Mr Ed Smith, Director of Sport at Feltonfleet said, “Our entry in the Guide is testament to the dedication and professionalism of our staff team and our excellent facilities, which are only set to improve with the addition of two new Multi Use Games Areas in the spring.  The boys and girls train hard all year round and we are extremely proud that a further 18 pupils have made Surrey CCC squads for this coming winter.”

The Cricketer Schools Guide is available on newsstands now and on thecricketer.com website from Friday 9th December.

This week, we are proud to support Neurodiversity Celebration Week, a global initiative that challenges stereotypes and misconceptions about neurological differences. Throughout the week, we will be engaging our pupils in discussions about neurodiversity, helping them to better understand and appreciate the strengths that come with different ways of thinking and learning. Additionally, our Learning Enrichment department is hosting a Parent Support Group, providing a relaxed and informal space for parents interested in neurodiversity to connect and share experiences. By celebrating neurodiversity, we are nurturing a culture of acceptance, inclusion, and understanding - helping all our pupils to embrace differences and champion each other's strengths. #FeltonfleetWhereIndividualsReallyMatter #NeurodiversityCelebrationWeek #NCW
