Grease is the word for Year 7
Back to NewsFrom the Pre-Prep right through to the Upper School at Feltonfleet, our pupils demonstrate an enthusiastic, ‘can do’ attitude, alongside a steely determination to enjoy their education. As they progress along their Feltonfleet journey, they grow in personal esteem as well as in learning, due in no small part to the camaraderie and benefits that come from being a valued member of their year group and the school as a whole.
This attitude was summed up perfectly last week, as senior pupils in Year 7 performed brilliantly in the musical Grease. The whole cast acted and sang with such gusto and commitment throughout the four performances. Grease needs no introduction: it is an iconic piece with larger-than-life characters so Year 7 had big shoes to fill. What was so impressive about the production was the way in which every pupil on stage brought a huge smile and infectious energy to their role and, led so ably by Danny (Oscar S) and Sandy (Ella G), made their individual contribution to the show-stopping performances. Year 7 commanded the stage with confidence from the outset, guiding the plot through the energetic musical numbers to weave the story of a summer romance. The production was impressive in every respect; from the fabulous set (complete with life-size car!) and costumes which transported us back to 1950’s America, to the sing-along musical numbers and solos. The show was slick, upbeat, vocally excellent, and thoroughly enjoyable; a production that pupils, parents and staff will remember for a long while.
The Performing Arts are at the core of Feltonfleet life, and it was wonderful to see the Ashbee Theatre filled once again with the acting, singing, and dancing of our pupils and the whooping and clapping of family and friends.
