Posted on: April 20th 2018

We are delighted to welcome Ewan Carradine as our new Deputy Head.  Ewan joined the school at the start of the Summer Term, taking over the role from Shelley Lance, who became Feltonfleet’s first ever Headmistress in January 2018.

Ewan graduated from university in Edinburgh, with a BA in Graphic Communications Management, before going on to complete his PGCE in Primary teaching in Dundee and Aberdeen.  He later achieved a Graduate Certificate in Professional Studies in Secondary Mathematics from the University of Brighton.

He brings with him a wealth of experience, having taught for over 18 years and having filled a variety of leadership roles at Primary and Senior School level, both at home (including his native Scotland) and overseas.  Most recently Ewan was a Pastoral Leader at St Richard’s Catholic College in Bexhill-on-Sea, East Sussex.

Ewan is joined by his wife, Catriona, who is also Feltonfleet's new Maths Subject Leader, and by their two children, Isla and Ruaridh, who have quickly made friends in Year 3 and Year 1 respectively.

On taking up his position, Ewan commented, “Visiting Feltonfleet for the first time, I became quickly aware that my personal core beliefs and values parallel exactly with those of Feltonfleet.  The pastoral focus and holistic development of every individual child are of paramount importance to me. I am relishing getting to grips with Prep School life and the multi-faceted day that the children experience.”

Our Year 7 pupils delivered an incredible performance of Return to the Forbidden Planet this week. The crew of the Starship Albatross took us on a thrilling space adventure in this sci-fi production, inspired by Shakespeare’s The Tempest and infused with 1950s rock ‘n’ roll. Their talent and teamwork were truly outstanding. Well done, Year 7! #FeltonfleetYear7 #FeltonfleetPerformingArts

This week, we are proud to support Neurodiversity Celebration Week, a global initiative that challenges stereotypes and misconceptions about neurological differences. Throughout the week, we will be engaging our pupils in discussions about neurodiversity, helping them to better understand and appreciate the strengths that come with different ways of thinking and learning. Additionally, our Learning Enrichment department is hosting a Parent Support Group, providing a relaxed and informal space for parents interested in neurodiversity to connect and share experiences. By celebrating neurodiversity, we are nurturing a culture of acceptance, inclusion, and understanding - helping all our pupils to embrace differences and champion each other's strengths. #FeltonfleetWhereIndividualsReallyMatter #NeurodiversityCelebrationWeek #NCW
